Once more into the breach..

Okay, I was always philosophical about the possibility of a final victory, but now I know that there can be no peace ever again. The squirrels will be back. No amount of mesh will keep them out.

Yesterday, I could hear them running back and forth down the soffits. There was finally a break in the rain, so I climbed up my ladder to take a look. I found a huge nest – mostly filled with clippings from the neighbour’s hedge. With some difficulty, I have removed the nest. Hopefully they wont try and rebuild this Spring, but I fully expect to see them again in the Fall or next Spring. Squirrels nest (and have babies) twice a year.

So this is the new normal:  a constant war, an asymmetrical war, a war I can’t win, but must fight.

Hey at least, I don’t have to deal with this…yet

I’m (and they’re) back!

So its been about a year since I updated this blog. Mostly because I managed to force the squirrels out of my eaves – by destroying their nests and carefully deploying some wire mesh. But now they are BACK. I heard the scratching a couple of days ago, but I didn’t want to face the truth. I faced facts today and climbed my ladder to take a look. This is what I saw:
